Hi! My name is Sophia (She/Her) and I was born in Ottawa. I enjoy playing multiple sports during my free time, such as ringette, rowing, skiing, and I recently started playing ultimate frisbee. Some of my other hobbies that I enjoy doing include going for walks with my dog, hanging out with family and listening to music.
This year was my first year taking music class and I really enjoyed it. Before this class, I played the piano, starting when I was seven years old. I liked playing classical music on the piano but what I enjoy the most now is learning to play pop songs or songs I hear on the radio. I always enjoyed listening to different kinds of music, like Pop, Reggae, and Hip Hop.
Music class allowed me to learn more about composing music and how music works together with different instruments. It allowed me to create my own music which I enjoyed most.
I chose this song to remix because I liked the chord progression and thought it would be good to work with to make it my own. One way I made it my own is to set up the song using different instruments. I used the drums to set the beat, and a synthesizer piano to play the melody and chord progression. The original song was played with piano and guitar. I added in the string ensemble and hard rock guitar to fill in the flow and spaces in the music and it all flowed smoothly together. I mixed the classical instruments with the rock instruments to make a fuller sound. The harp was used to play the chord progression in a broken chord to add variety. What inspired me was to blend classical and popular sounds together and I think this was achieved with this remix.
