Hi, my name is Maddie (She/Her) and I am from Gatineau, Quebec. Although I was born in Houston, Texas, I moved to Canada at 11 years old to be closer to my extended family! I really enjoy playing with my dogs, reading, and swimming in the summer.
I play the piano and the bass guitar at the moment, but I also used to play the flute and the alto saxophone in Middle School. I was introduced to bass guitar this year and it is definitely my favorite instrument. I adapted to it very quickly and I feel very comfortable playing it. I like to listen to pop and indie music, as well as rap.
"Dying Star" represents a supernova star exploding and becoming a black hole in its death. I used different instruments to create opposing ranges throughout the piece and give the music a very spacious effect. By focusing on minor tonalities, I achieved the depth and dark ambiance I wanted to create. Overall, big sounds and fast-growing tempos helped me accomplish the explosion of sound I needed to have to make my climax as effective as it could be.

This remix of "Brazil" by Declan Mckenna helped me improve my skills in composition by making the instrumental parts of the song myself from only the vocals. I used my theoretical knowledge to create parts that still fit within the original song’s key signature and tempo.
This arrangement helped me develop my compositional technique skills by arranging the major key into minor and creating my own elements to add. I was able to use creativity to create my own somber and ambient version of "London Bridge is Falling Down".
