MEET CHLOE!
Hi there, my name is Chloe (She/Her), and I live in Ottawa. I am a competitive swimmer who loves to go on adventures outdoors, walk dogs, and spend time with my family. An interesting fact about me is that I have run five whitewater Northern Rivers and also I have hiked the shores of Lake Superior.
I started playing the clarinet in Grade 7, and before that, I played the ukulele. I like listening to a wide variety of music and mainly listen to music during workouts and before swim races.
This was my first year in Music, which has been really fun and I highly suggest taking it next year!

This character theme is based on Cruella de Vil from the Disney live-action of Cruella. This themed motif uses a fast tempo, loud volume, different ranges using drums and violins to show an edgy and dark theme of revenge. As such, this leitmotif is used to show Cruella's evil and edgy personality.

VARIATION TO THE THEME
This leitmotif is based on the scene where Cruella runs away after her mother's death as she no longer has anyone to look after her. This sad scene incorporates slower tempo, lower volume, as well as softer instrumentation featuring piano and violin. This leitmotif shows Cruella's other personality and her origin story of becoming evil.

What did you find to be the most enjoyable from this experience?
What I enjoyed most from this experience was being able to choose a character and make music that represented their characteristics throughout the movie. I also enjoy making the two videos with the music and being able to put the video on top, it was really fun to see how your music aligns with the video that you chose. As well I loved learning how to use the Sibelius app and better understanding the musical conventions that contribute to my music. Doing this project, allowed me to get an understanding of how hard it is to write music and how long it takes.
What did you find to be the most challenging from this experience?
What I found the most challenging about this project was coming up with my initial ideas to start the music and what video I was going to use for the leitmotif and motif. As well, I found it challenging at the start to understand how the musical conventions contribute to my music and how I had to follow specific rules to make sure my music was correct. However, this whole process was really enjoyable and I had a lot of fun learning these techniques and different ways to make music pieces.
