MILLBROOK, Ala. (SESN) — Joidaden “Jay” Carter-Stone is entering his senior year at Stanhope Elmore High School, and is hoping that this year will be one for the record books for the Mustangs.
Stone has been playing football since he can remember, and I asked if he could decide on one moment that stood out to him.
“I got either getting my offer from UNA or my first ever interception, or my first touchdown. I don't know, it's between them three,” Stone said.

Stone is coming off a career year in which he led the Mustangs in interceptions (4), forced fumbles (3) and was one of five players from Stanhope Elmore to finish the year on the All-River Region First Team.
Passion for the game is what Stone brings to this Mustang defense, and his love for football is what keeps him coming back for more.
"My love for the sport, cause I feel like if I didn't love the sport, I wouldn't be here right now," Stone said. "So that's what keeps me motivated, is just loving the sport and wanting to play until I can't play no more."
Stone is seen as one of the many vocal leaders in this senior class, and does not lack confidence in what he hopes to accomplish in his final year, stating that he plans to end his career at SEHS with a state championship ring on his finger.
He also wanted to leave a message behind to the younger guys on the team.
"Don't get in your head. Just play your game and everything. God will let whatever belongs to you come to you. So just play your game, have faith in God, and perform."

My final question to Stone was for him to say what he wants to be remembered for at Stanhope Elmore, and in true Jay Stone fashion, he said: "The best player to ever come to Stanhope Elmore High School, that's it."
Stone set a goal for himself to make it to the collegiate level, and with his determination and skill on the field, it's hard to believe that he won't make it.
Jay Stone and the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs will travel to take on the Marbury Bulldogs for their season opener on Friday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. CST at Marbury High School. Tickets are available on GoFan.
