“The Complete History of Theater (Abridged)” by Matt Thompson is a play that has a very on-the-nose premise; the story tries to educate the audience about the history of theater from its Ancient Greek origin to modern day Broadway. However, the actors can’t agree on how to tell it!
The play focuses around three infamous theater figures: world-renowned playwright William Shakespeare (played by Aiye “Dash” Kioni), intelligent method actor Konstantin Stanislovsky (played by Gavin Palmer) and famous French actress Sara Bernhardt (played by Maleah Beaufot). There is also an array of drastically different characters played by a singular ensemble member (played by Colleen Griffin). Each tries their best to present the history of theater to the audience and do it by a collection of hilarious hijinks and selections that YOU, the audience, get to make!
The most intriguing part of this play is that some events that happen are completely up to the audience to choose, making each and every night of performances different from the last! “You'll enjoy all the laughs, sight gags, and absolute insanity that unfolds on the stage,” says director Brady Walker.
“The Complete History of Theater (Abridged)” will open on Sept. 21 at 7:00 p.m., Sept. 23 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and will close on Sept. 24 at 3:00 pm in the new theater room. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased through go.fan.co.
