MILLBROOK, Ala. - The Stanhope Elmore High School Mustang Players will host a dinner theater for their performance of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth," but Mr. Brady Walker and his group of young thespians will look to add a twist to the classic play.
I talked to Aiye "Dash" Kioni about their upcoming play, and he told me that “the adaptation of Shakespeare’s "Macbeth" by Mr. Walker presents an apocalyptic, post-nuclear war interpretation of the classic play”.
Auditions will take place on August 19-21 following the final school bell in the theatre room, and Dash and his cast members are “eager to commence this exciting project”.
"Macbeth" is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, believed to have been first performed in 1606. The play explores the detrimental physical and psychological consequences of political ambition on individuals who pursue power. Motivated by his ambition and encouraged by his wife, Macbeth orchestrates the assassination of King Duncan to seize the Scottish throne.
Participants in the Trumbauer Festival will present their performances at Stanhope Elmore High School prior to departing for the festival.
A musical that delves into the aspirations and challenges faced by dancers auditioning for a Broadway chorus line, the 6th Annual Dinner Theater presents a musical featuring the story of a small-town girl, a city boy, and a genuine rock romance set on the Sunset Strip.
If you are interested in auditioning for the Mustangs' adaptation of "Macbeth," see Mr. Walker about signing up for the theatre club. The club offers students valuable opportunities and experiences in the performing arts. Its objective is to introduce students to various elements of the theater world, including the process of developing a full theatrical performance and exploring pathways for advancing a career in theater. Participation in this club enables students to build confidence, forge new friendships, and acquire essential skills both on and off the stage, all while being part of an enjoyable campus organization.
