Scholarship Scams: In general, be wary of scholarships with an application fee, scholarship matching services that guarantee success, advance-fee loan scams and sales pitches disguised as financial aid “seminars”.
TIPS:
Some employers offer scholarships for children of employees
Banks sometimes offer specific scholarships for customers
First-generation college students may qualify for additional resources at their individual school or qualify for specific scholarships or academic support programs
Make sure to check with the financial aid office of the school you’ll be attending for other scholarship opportunities
If you have taken Transcripted Credit Classes, make sure to have your transcript sent from CVTC to the institution you’re
planning to attend. That institution will determine which credits they accept.
Directions on requesting CVTC Transcript
AP Credits need to be sent directly from the College Board. AP Credit Transfer Policy can be found here
If you plan to participate in D1 or D2 athletics/activities in college, you should make sure to register at the beginning of your junior year.
