Foundational Aviation Skills Training (FAST) - RPAS

FAST – RPAS Stream is a 4-week program designed to prepare participants for careers in the rapidly expanding field of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (drones). Delivered in partnership with the Edmonton Flying Club, this program combines comprehensive ground school, hands-on drone operation, and certification opportunities to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in the aviation industry.

Graduates of the FAST – RPAS Stream complete advanced-level training and are prepared to pursue employment opportunities in RPAS operations across aviation and related industries.

Program Components

• Drone (RPAS) Advanced Operations training, including:

  • 76 hours of RPAS Ground School (Air Law, General Knowledge, Meteorology, Navigation)

  • Hands-on drone operation and simulation training

  • One-hour Flight Exam to obtain the Advanced Drone License

• Certifications Offered:

  • Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A)

  • Pre-Solo Test of Air Regulations (PSTAR)

• Guest speakers and networking with aviation and RPAS professionals

• Workplace essential skills development such as problem-solving, adaptability, and digital literacy

• Long-term mentorship and career preparation support
