Vision and Mission
The curriculum of Visual Arts aims to develop students’ creativity and imagination in expressing ideas and emotions. Students are provided with opportunities to be exposed to the field and to enrich their artistic experience. The curriculum also enhances students’ understanding of the significance of Visual Arts in different societies, cultures, and periods, and from personal, social, cultural, and values perspectives.
Art portfolio is one of the major projects of S.4-S.6 students. Students are required to complete the whole project which consists of idea development and four pieces of final artworks based on a theme that they are interested in.
Chiaroscuro is the basic foundation in painting. Understanding the concept of light and shadow inspires drawing with three-dimensional techniques and realistic style. The combination of light and shadow of different colors can help to express the different atmosphere and style of the painting.
Portrait is an important part of painting. It trains and tests the observation and comprehensive ability of students.
Sand painting is a traditional art form which requires sand, paper and sand painting light boxes. The creation of sand painting mainly focuses on the artist's technique and the unique image formed by the sand and the light at the bottom of the artwork.
Mosaic tiles are one of the oldest known forms of decorative arts which are patterns created using small tiles or small pieces of pottery. Different patterns or shapes can be created.
Cyanotype is a UV-sensitive image copying process and is a craftsmanship with a long history since the 19th century. This Cyanotype project is a joint project conducted with EDUHK to preserve the fading memories in Hong Kong.
Based on the theme “We are all connected”, S1 students design a poster to express their concerns for world peace through their artwork.
Typography design is the art of arranging a message in a readable and aesthetically pleasing composition. It is an integral element of design.
Design is closely related to our daily life. Everything we come across has been through the design process. Products of good design do not only look good, but also have practical use.
