Hi there! I'm so glad you stopped by to visit my webpage. My name is Sarah Coons and I teach upper elementary students with disabilities at Blackmore Elementary. The goal on our campus is full inclusion- meaning we're committed to making the best and least restrictive decisions for all children.
I have been working in the special education field for 16 years and love it. My career path has spanned three states, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, and has included seven years of teaching, five years as an educational diagnostician/school psychometrist, and three years providing professional development to educators in the areas of inclusive and intervention practices and meaningful participation for parents in the IEP process. I'm passionate about co-teaching, diagnostic testing, and professional learning. I enjoy advocating for students with disabilities and helping schools and districts find the most effective ways to include students in the general education curriculum.
My family includes my husband, Bryan, our two sons, Quentin and Barrett, and a small school of fish. This is our third year living in El Dorado and we are thrilled to be part of this amazing, education-supporting community!
