September 2024 Newsletter
Welcome to our new look monthly newsletter. We are a Google school, trialling different aspects of the platform to improve how we work and teach.
We have already been super busy; enjoy reading about all the learning we've already done. Thank you for joining us for the Welcome Meetings - but if you were unable to attend your child's class teacher or any of the Senior Leaders are always here to help.
You have been sent an Events calendar for the term, so you plan ahead over the next few months.
Year 4 have already camped on the school field. What a magical time they had, even though it was a little cold this year. Year 6 are getting ready to head off to France for the year and Year 5 are getting ready for their residential at Fairplay House.
Just to remind you that I lead at Gainsborough Primary School and split my week across the 2 schools, as well as some of the Senior Leaders at both schools working across the 2 sites. This is a very exciting year for us, with collaboration and development for us all.
Please remember to call the office to let them know if you child is unable to attend school. You will need medical proof for this to be an authorised absence.
We do understand that children may have coughs and colds so please just talk to us.
We will be working with Newham attendance again this year. Any term time absences have to be applied for. We do not authorise term time holidays.

So far this term we have been reading and retelling the story 'Owl Babies'. We have enjoyed acting out the story using lots of different props as well as our story map.
In our Maths groups we have started to sort and match objects and order numbers to 5.
During the morning and afternoon session please continue to support your child with settling activities.
We love learning alongside you!
In Reception, we have had a busy few weeks. The children have settled in very well and have begun to understand the routine of the day.
This term we have been reading the story 'Incredible Me', the story is about being incredible and unique in our own way. The children have begun to use the stem sentence and act out role scenarios of why they are incredible and unique.
Welcome back! As we begin our new academic year, there is always a focus on re-establishing relationships with our children, as well as having clear routines and expectations to support our children settle into their school day. There are some top tips that we can also use at home.
The Newham SEND service are being inspected by Ofsted this term. Please click the link below for more information and have your say by completing the parent survey.
Here is the latest Inclusion Matters Newsletter where you will find exciting events for your children and parent workshops. Please also have a look at Newham's Local Offer website.
Developing Stronger Relationships with Our Children
Welcome back! We have had a great start back to the Autumn term. The children have been so engaged and ready to learn! We have completed an all about me topic, number learning, map skills for Geography and created a Sukkah for Sukkot in RW. We have also begun our learning on 'Owl Babies' and look forward to writing and retelling our own stories.
We have had a great begining of new academic year. We love taking part in Science lessons. This half term we have been learning about seasons of the year. We have discussed what changes occur in each season and we have visited Forest School to observe the first signs of Autumn.
We have also created our own season wheels!!! This will help us to develop our science knowledge.
Thank you to parents who supported children in completing their home learning.
We have had a busy start to the new school year. We have been map making and learning how to read maps with symbols; learning about parables and how stories can have meaning; studying the weather and comparing different climates around; discussing our roles and responsibilties in our school; exploring materials and their properties and finally celebrating all our different cultures as part of our language day.
We have so more planned for the year, so keep checking our events calendar.
Welcome Back! So far this year in Year 3, we have explored the following:
Using our map skills to find locations in the playground alongside capital cities in The United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on a map!
In Maths, we are understanding place value and recognising numbers up to 1,000 through different representations such as flexible partitioning and part-whole models!
Finding out how to be safer online by keeping our personal information safe and knowing how to spot, 'Fake news!' during Computing.
Welcome Back! Hope you all have had a restful break. Year 4 has had a very busy start of the year.
We've had such a brilliant start of the year with camping and what fun the children had! Well done to all the children especially to those who stayed overnight.
In RW, we are learning about Hinduism and 'How and why do Hindu people worship in the home and in the Mandir?' To learn more about this we went to visit the Sri Mahalakshmi Temple in East Ham.
Welcome back everyone! Hope you all had a lovely break. We have been very busy this month learning lots of new things. In Geography, we have been learning about map skills and we created contour models. In Reading Gym and English we have been focusing on the book Black Dog. Take a look at some of our freeze frames.
Year 6 have been busy with lots of engaging RW learning since coming back from the summer holidays. We went on a trip to the Buddhist temple and learnt how important it was for Buddhists to visit the temple. Have a look at our lovely pictures from the trip!
