If you saw our letter sent out recently, we were very proud to receive an Edurio Parental Engagement award last term, because of all your amazing feedback. Out of 2,300 schools in the country we are in the top 10! This was such a lovely surprise to receive.
Just a reminder please do not bring dogs on site when dropping off or collecting your child.

Attendance
Please ensure that your child comes to school every day. Children should only be kept at home if they are genuinely too sick to be at school.
Precious learning time is missed even if your child is 5 minutes late each day. Just 5 minutes a day would add up to 15 hours missed over the year!
It is also very important that no holidays are taken during term times.
If you have any question about attendance then please feel free to email attendance@ekotrust.org.uk you can also send any medical evidence to this email address.

Multisensory learning benefits all children. It allows them to learn through their senses to help them learn concepts that they might be finding tricky. Here are some examples on how you can use multisensory activities at home.
Here is the latest Inclusion Matters Newsletter from Newham for information about activities for your children or training opportunities.
Multisensory Learning
Forming letters or numbers, as well as writing words in rice, shaving foam or flour.
Use a whiteboard pen to write letters on each duplo. Then encourage your child to make a word. This can also be used to learn about plurals.
Using items around your home to count and match the quantities to the number. You can write these numbers on paper and then encourage your child to trace on top of this or copy the numbers.
On a ball/balloon, write number sentences involving adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. Then throw the ball/balloon to your child and they need to solve the problem. It can also be used for sounding letters or reading words.
In Nursery we have been learning the days of the week, the months in the year and about seasons!
We also learnt about the festival - Diwali and made some rangoli patterens.
Every day we have a maths group time, where we are learning about subitising and we also practise writing our name!
Please continue to share your celebrations and days out with us using Evidence Me.

This month we learnt how to retell the story of 'The Scarecrows' wedding'. Now we can talk about the three main parts of any story: beginning, middle and end. We used our phonics knowledge to write some key words for the story: love, sleep and married.
In maths we are learning about number composition. We learnt that any number can be made up of two or more smaller numbers.
Home Learning is released every Friday through Evidence Me. Please encourage your child to complete this.
Pantomime is on December 5th.
Nativity performance is on December 16th at 10am - due to capacity in the hall and safety, only 1 family member per child. We will be filming the performance and sending it out too.
In Aspire this term, we have been learning about different celebrations. Our focus books have been 'Kipper's Birthday' and we have recently moved on to 'Mog's Christmas'. We have also been exploring Diwali and will be learning about Christmas celebrations too. The children enjoyed baking a cake for Kipper's birthday and of course they enjoyed eating it even more! Many children have also been on some exciting educational visits with their year group classes, children have visited: The British Museum, The Monument, and Frameless to name a few.
In Year 1 we have had a jam packed month. We have had our No Outsiders workshop, Maths fair and our busy Friday mornings. Thank you to all the families who attend Open House.
We have been working incredibly hard in all our learning across all topics. In English we have been recalling our visit to the park with actions and words. In History we have been talking about our family tree and how different family members are related to us.
We have a Phonics workshop on the 28th November at 2:45pm. We look forward to seeing you then for all things phonics!

This November, Year 2 have been working incredibly hard on topics throughout the curriculum. We have particularly enjoyed learning about The Great Fire of London. The key knowledge includes how it started, why it spread so quickly and the impact it had on the architecture of London. Thank you to the parents that supported us on our visit to The Monument.
We have also been learning about special books and stories from different religions and to support our learning we had a visitor, Carol, who delivered a workshop about special stories from the Bible.
Throughout November, Year 3 have continued their settled and focused approach to learning. In Maths, we are exploring our multiplaction in the form of equal groups and arrays. The methods we use include concrete resources such as counters and pictorial representations too. Don't forget to complete Doodle Maths at home too, this really helps embed those basic Maths skills.
Thank you to the parents that attended our Diwali Open House and the children who shared their worldview of their celebrations.
Keep checking the events calendar for upcoming events as well as Google Classroom for home learning.
