KENCO Engineering Co. is a leading global supplier of instrumentation for oil and gas, petrochemical, power, pulp and paper, and water treatment industries. Well known for liquid level gauges for tank measurement and oil level controllers for monitoring lube oil in stationary engines and compressors.
August 2023 – May 2025
Designed a handheld fixture that allowed for quicker and easier application of retaining rings to help hold down an identification tag to a gauge. This problem arose from an issue where the old way of tag retainment was causing an unideal dispersion of clamp force which allowed the gauge to leak.
Designed and developed a stainless-steel pressure tank for internal company use that was then used on all pressure testing applications to help prolong the life of all pressure testers, since it would not corrode or rust when water or fluids were left in the tank for long periods of time.
Designed a new cart that would allow for stainless-steel pressure tanks to be more easily transported around the shop floor.
Performed testing, analysis, and documentation on sight window products to investigate field performance issues. Collaborated on research and observations to support product evaluation and contributed findings to inform internal decision-making and documented findings to product improvement effortsassist future engineers. Conducted testing on the sight window products to help prove that the company was not liable for the failure of the sight windows in the field, which was at the center of a legal battle the company was facing.
Wrote technical documentation to provide the future engineers with better understanding of what to look for on returned defective sight windows to see if it was user error or material failure.
Conducted testing on a series of calibration pots to help provide the company with more accurate maximum pressure ratings, as prior to the testing the only pressure ratings we had were given via mathematical backings and not physical testing.Conducted testing of calibration pots to establish accurate maximum pressure ratings, supplementing prior mathematical backings with validated physical testing data.
Assisted in the Helped develop and design a KENCO Dump Valve that would meet the strict standards of NACE so the product line could be used in corrosive environments without fear of failure due to hydrogen embrittlement process. development and design a KENCO Dump Valve to meet the NACE standards for use in corrosive environments, preventing failure from hydrogen embrittlement.
Developed comprehensive technical assembly and repair instructions for multiple product lines. These documents detailed clear, step-by-step procedures for accurate product assembly to ensure optimal functionality. The repair instructions provided systematic guidelines for diagnosing and addressing failures across various product lines. Created new technical assembly and repair instructions for a variety of different product lines. These instructions provided clear step-by-step procedures on how to properly assemble products so they would function properly. The written repair instructions provided clear step-by-step procedures on how to diagnose and repair failures of on various product lines.
Developed spreadsheets to automate product pricing based on material and design variations, considering factors like machine time, labor costs, and material usage efficiency. Created spreadsheets that helped automatically price products as new variations of the different product lines were released. The variations include change in materials and change in design of different components. Spreadsheet took everything in consideration from machine time and labor costs to how many parts could be produced from a single bar of material.
Developed a to-scale digital layout of the production shop floor to enable future engineers to propose changes for improved efficiency and accommodate new product lines. Created a digital layout of the production shop floor where everything was scaled properly that would allow the future engineers to propose changes to the shop layout that would promote higher efficiency standards and where new products lines could be placed as they were designed and released.
Created a testing device to check up to ten radiator caps simultaneously for defects in the production process that could result in leaks.Designed a testing apparatus that would allow for more efficient testing of our Radiator Cap Product line. Apparatus can efficiently test up to 10 Radiator Caps at once to verify that the production process did not results in any leaks.
Developed and implemented new assembly procedures for soldered products, removing corrosive flux to enhance shelf life and overall lifespan.Developed and implemented new assembly procedures for soldered product line that involved removal of corrosive flux that promoted a longer shelf life of the product and overall longer life span of the products.
Trained administrative assistants to create and verify existing bills of materials for various product lines, enhancing the use of our inventory management system. Designed washing and neutralizing apparatus that would efficiently wash and neutralize the flux left behind on soldered products therefore extending the overall life of the product as they would not corrode.
Worked with our administrative assistants to teach them how to create bills of materials for a wide range of product lines as well as check for errors on all the different bill of materials created by them. This was done so we could better implement the full capabilities of our inventory management system.
