Dr. Kaiyue Dong has published the paper concerning the structure and the origin of the stability of Pt nanoclusters derived from two phase liquid reduction method by BCLA+BI-XAFS and HERFD+BI-XANES techniques The Pt nanoparticles are used as a fuel cell catalyst but the short life time of Pt nanoparticle is a problem that prevents the wide spread of the fuel cell. Prof. Miyabayashi(one of the coauthor) has developed a new two phase liquid reduction method which gives a well defined Pt nanoparicles. Dr. K.Dong and her teams (SPring-8 and ECU) studied the nanoparticles by newly developed BI-XAFS and revealed the Pt309 cuboctahedral structures. HERFD XANES shows the continuous change of the adsorbate peaks. It may be related to the Pt-O bond distance of H2O-OH adsorbate network.
