Class Overview
Welcome to math class at Eagle Academy! Our class will be diving into one of the following curricula: Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II.
In Algebra I, we will introduce fundamental concepts of variables, linear equations, graphing and analyzing functions, factoring polynomials, and analyzing data.
In Geometry, we will learn many topics, including geometry of parallel lines, many theorems relating to triangles, an introduction to trigonometry, circle geometry, surface area/volume of 3D shapes, and probability.
In Algebra II, we will learn about quadratic functions, polynomials, exponential functions, logarithms, and matrices.
For all classes, we will constantly focus on reinforcing fundamental mental math concepts and relating concepts to the real world. Let's make math meaningful!
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Mr. Kertz. I was born and raised in EHT and graduated from EHTHS with the Class of 2012. Upon graduation, I attended Rutgers University and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at Rutgers, I was a part of the Navy ROTC program, and after graduating I commissioned as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. I served on the USS ILLINOIS (SSN-786) out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii until 2019, when I exited the Navy the returned home to EHT. Instead of using my engineering degree, I decided to take the alternate route to becoming a teacher in order to give back to the community I grew up in. I love interacting with students every day and seeing their growth throughout their high school years! I began teaching at Eagle Academy in 2021 and have been loving every second since!
