ACTIVATE:
The "activate" strategies are what students need to do prior to reading in order to activate prior knowledge. Students will understand and connect key academic and content-related vocabulary to aid in deeper comprehension of the text. While this is included within the “engage” portion of the critical reading process, vocabulary building can happen at any point.
