STEPS:
Pipeline provides participants an opportunity to plan and communicate as a team, learn how to overcome difficulties together, and make changes to the original plan in order to complete a task.
1. Provide a large area of the classroom for students to spread out.
2. Divide participants into 2-3 smaller groups.
3. Give each group a ball and a stack of construction or cardstock, a roll of tape, and a pair of scissors.
4. Give participants five minutes to plan how they will get the ball from one side of the designated area to the other, following these rules:
The ball may not touch the ground at any time
No one may touch the ball at any time once it enters the designated area
Each person must be involved in the process of moving the ball
If any of these rules are broken, the group must start over
5. Close the activity with a verbal or written debrief using a few of the questions from the Stage 4 Debrief Prompts.
