I am Ms. Scanlan and am responsible for grades 8-12 and Club Art. This is my 5th year at East Guernsey having previously taught for two years at Tri-Valley Schools in Muskingum County. I have also been a substitute teacher and a three term AmeriCorps volunteer. My education was earned through Zane State (Associate of Applied Science-Multimedia), Ohio University (Bachelor of Fine Arts-Art Education), and Full Sail University (Master of Science-Educational Media Design and Technology). I am also a member of OAEA (Ohio Arts Education Association), who awarded me the Outstanding Art Teacher-East region for 2018, and a Level 2 Google Certified Educator.

My philosophy on the Arts and Education:
As far back as I can remember I have dabbled with different arts. My formal training came from Zane State (Assoc: Multimedia), Ohio University (Bach: Art Education), and Full Sail University (Master: Educational Media and Design). I have also been continually surrounded by creatives and have learned from informally studying their works as well. When teaching, I try to instill confidence in the students and push them outside of their comfort zones so they are able to recognize and expand their abilities. My philosophy for passing on knowledge is: Try stuff, the worst that can happen is you not like it!
