A strong commitment to private voice study will help you learn and grow as an individual singer and performer. Taking private voice lessons can also help you to prepare for performance-based events such as Solo & Ensemble, Honors Choir, or upcoming auditions for college acceptance, musical productions, and next year's choir placements. MRS. HOLLIS BOKHOUT, PRIVATE VOICE INSTRUCTOR
Hollis Bokhout has been the private voice instructor for EGR High School for the past 24 years. She received a Bachelors in Education with a Theatre emphasis from Bowling Green State University and a Masters in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Marshall University. Her professional performance experience spans the genres of Opera, Musical Theatre, choral, pop and jazz.

VOCAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
"The Michigan School Vocal Music Association offers rewarding opportunities to sing in honors choirs for grades 6-7-8-9 and high school students. To be considered for participation in Regional, State, and All-State Honors Choir, students must first audition. Those auditioning must be enrolled and in good standing in their school's vocal music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA."

"In addition to providing fantastic choral music experiences, MSVMA also offers opportunities for solo voice students to perform at District and State Solo & Ensemble Festivals. These solo performances are adjudicated by collegiate-level voice professionals, with the highest distinction being selection to perform at the prestigious Michigan Youth Arts Festival. Those wishing to participate in S&E must be enrolled and in good standing in their school's music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA."

"Traditional Solo & Ensemble requires that soloists sing classical art songs or opera arias. Musical Theatre Solo & Ensemble is a specialized event through MSVMA that focuses on the performance of musical theatre repertoire. This is also an adjudicated festival which requires all interested students to be enrolled and in good standing in their school's music program. Their school must be a member of MSVMA."

"The Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Choruses is a choral organization for young people which seeks to promote excellence in singing and appreciation of music from all around the world. As an official affiliate of the Grand Rapids Symphony, the choruses are featured in concerts with the symphony each year. Collaborating with professional musicians teaches our young singers to aspire to their highest level of musicianship."

"Blue Lake’s Choir Program is designed to challenge students of all proficiency levels. Our highly regarded faculty provide a wide range of instructional and performance opportunities. Students explore repertoire from a variety of musical styles and historical periods and practice fundamental skills in sight singing, breath management, tone production, stage presence, diction, solo and ensemble singing, and basic musicianship. Choir majors receive five hours of intensive daily rehearsal, sectionals, and vocal technique classes. "

"Located in beautiful northern Michigan, Interlochen Arts Camp offers summer arts programs for grades 3-12. Each summer, over 2,500 students from all over the world come to Interlochen to study music, visual arts, theatre, film, dance and creative writing. Music students perform in the 3,900-seat Kresge Auditorium, the 950-seat Corson Auditorium, Dendrinos Chapel and Recital Hall, the historic Interlochen Bowl, and the new, open air Upton-Morley Pavilion, as well as other locations around our scenic, lakefront campus."
