This assignment may also be a bit challenging, but encourage the children to count each colour of block or counter to make the total number. Remember, don’t worry if this is tricky for the students as it is just an introduction. I will be introducing a hands-on activity. Please remember that this activity is optional, and you can do it anytime throughout the week. This week’s activity is practising scissor skills. Using small scissors, have the children cut the various lines. They progress from easier (straight) to harder (zig zag). Remember to supervise the children! Literacy

Today we will finish the letters of the alphabet by learning about the letters Y and Z. The letter Y sounds like “yuh”, as in “yellow”, “yak”, and “yawn”. You will notice that the letter Z can be pronounced in two different ways. We say Zed in Canada, but the United States says Zee. You will notice that both Starfall and Jack Hartman are American so that’s why they say “Zee”. Either way, its sound is “zzzz”, as in “zoo”, “zipper”, and “zebra”.
