Writing:
Third graders are learning to include text evidence in their writing to support their ideas. We have began utilizing the R.A.C.E (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain) method to construct organized responses.
Reading:
Have you heard? Donavan collects WORDS! Third grade is enjoying our first whole-class novel, Donavan's Word Jar! We are focusing on cause & effect, notice & note strategies, & finding text evidence to support our answers when completing comprehension questions.
Grammar:
Each week will focus on a new skill. The weekly routine is always the same! Monday is our whole group mini-lesson. Tuesday has an interactive notebook activity. Wednesday involves infusing learned skills into writing. Thursday is an around-the-room scoot activity. Friday is a check-in to assess understanding.
Math:
The Fact Fluency Challenge has officially begun! Students have jumped right into those facts. Keep practicing using flash cards, Freckle, & IXL!
Science:
Is it a push, or a pull? Are magnets involved? Third grade is "diving" into their first Science Unit: Balancing Forces. This unit is 5 chapters long with multiple lessons in each chapter. We are focusing on content vocabulary and applying our knowledge to create parachutes during STEAM for project-based learning.
