Genius Hour

Here are projects that students from the Coliseum learned about in 2018-19.

This was an instructional project where students taught their class how to create a paper product.

This was an informational project where a student taught about their passion of soccer and demonstrated their skills.

This was an informational project where two students explained about the coding language Python 3. We now have two resident experts that other students can go to to get support to code in Python 3.

This project taught students how to create their own paper squishies. Squishies are used to give students a calming activity similar to fidget spinners and other tools.

Two students shared with the class how they can make their own charms using clay. Creativity was in full display.

A student learned about how to create using materials that are readily available. We might be looking at a future Oscar winner for costume design.

Two students found art lessons on their own and created a lesson to share with their classmates.

A student wanted to share their passion for basketball with others. They had a chance to show off their own basketball skills. We might have a future NBAer in Room 28, or a few.

A student shares their passion for hot dogs with facts and knowledge that we didn't have before.

A student shared about the history of paper boats and also directions on how to create one.

A student shared about their love of tennis and taught the class about its history.

Three students teamed up to learn more about one of their favorite things. The students are interested in electronics and learned more about a popular company and why their products perform well.

A student shared with us the training that has helped them earn high level belts in Taekwondo.

One student shared their love for the band Queen. They researched about their history and gave the class a sample of their music.

Two students shared about a favorite dish of their culture. The weather is still cold so take follow their instructions to make some for yourself.

One student taught the class about Dreamcatchers and demonstrated how to create one. The process is complex and calming.

Three students came together over their passion of basketball and set out to make tutorial videos. Take a look at some videos to add to your game on the basketball court.

Three students shared the history of Marvel Comics. From the creation of the first super hero, The Human Torch, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we learned about how powerful imagination can be.

We learned about Rani Lakshmi Bai, also known as Manikarnika. A student was inspired by the biographical movie to learn more about their heritage.

Two students shared about the internal designs of drones. They discussed design differences and also introduced us to a future full of autonomous drones.

Two students taught the class about the history of memes and shared popular ones for the uninitiated.

We all start drawing with these as a young child, but did you know about the history of crayons? A student looked into the history of crayons to inform us more about these ubiquitous sticks of color.

How do you like to get your groove on? Every culture has their own type of dance. One student researched and shared what they learned.
