Design Stage:
Develop evaluation criteria to determine the degree to which solution designs meet requirements. Evaluation criteria measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the designs.
Development Stage:
Modify
and refine the evaluation criteria as necessary as the solution is developed.
Evaluation Stage:
Use the evaluation criteria to determine how the solution has met requirements, needs or opportunities. Discuss in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of the solution.
Proposal of an evaluation strategy to evaluate the extent to which the solution meets the needs of the user after the solution has been developed and implemented.
For Unit 2, you don't need to create an evaluation strategy (this is covered in Unit 4 Software Development).
Sample Evaluation Criteria:
Term
Efficiency / Effectiveness
Definition
Evaluation (This is completed once the product is developed and tested)
Accuracy
Effectiveness
- Accuracy of information. Does the information appear to be free from errors such as spelling?
- Do the number values appear to be reasonable? Has the correct description of a product been provided? Does the image match the product specified?
- User input is validated to reduce errors. Is user input validated?
Attractiveness
Effectiveness
-How visually appealing the user believes the solution design to be
-Do the colours clash or work well together?
-From a scale of 1-5, how good does the overall solution look?
Completeness
Effectiveness
-To what extent is the solution developed to its desired capacity
-Does the solution design look finished?
-Are they any expected elements of the design missing?
Clarity
Effectiveness
-Measures the coherence of message and how well the user understand its system
-What is the solution's purpose?
-Can the user easily understand the purpose of the page?
Speed of processing
Efficiency
-How it takes for a solution to process, manipulate and display data through an algorithm
-Is data displayed quickly (within half a second)?
Timeliness
Effectiveness
-How well the design communicates data in a timely manner
-Is the data up to date?
-Are there indicators for how up to date the data is?
Speed of accessing files
Efficiency
-How fast data is fetched for the user
-Does relevant data load quickly for the user?
Communication of message
Effectiveness
-How well does the solution communicate its message to the user
-What is the intended message of the solution design?
-Was this message easily understood?
Usability
Effectiveness
-How is easy it is to use the solution design
-Is the solution design easy to use on first use?
-Is the solution design's navigation easily learnable?
Relevance
Effectiveness
-How well the data is logically interconnected within the solution
-Are the connections between webpages logical?
-Are there any webpages that are difficult or unintuitive to locate?
Accessibility
Effectiveness
-How well the solution design can be used by many different users
-Is the text selectable and can be read by visually impaired?
-Do images have alternative text for people who cannot see them?
Effort
Efficiency
-How much effort is required to reach certain data?
