Hubs were an early networking solution. When a hub receives a message, it transmits it to all linked computers. A repeater strengthens signals travelling over large distances.
A smart hub is a network switch. A switch can look at an address being sent to it and identify the correct destination port. A switch dramatically reduces the problem of data collisions as they now only occur when a computer and its switch try to talk to each other at the same time.
The problem of how vast amounts of data are communicated is solved bt routers. Routers keep track of which device a data packet has come from as well as the device it should send it to next, based on stored MAC addresses.
A wireless access point (WAP) enables wireless devices to connect a wired network. It acts as a central point of communication for wireless devices, such as laptops, smartphones and tablets, allowing them to access a LAN or connect to the network wirelessly.

'Bryce's Brew' is a new cafe opening up in the area. You have been asked to plan and implement the computer network they and their customers will use for a variety of day-to-day processes.
Brainstorm the variety of computing technology used by a cafe. This could include technology used by:
a. the cafe workers: to serve customers, keep track of orders and recieve payments
b. the customers: to make orders, use their private devices or for entertainment
c the cafe owner: to manage the cafe including keeping track of stock, security and ensuring the cafe environment
is inviting for customers
Consider all of the above, what network hardware would the cafe need?
3. Perform your own research online to find current network products that may be used in the cafe network. Using a
spreadsheet, create a budget for the network hardware.
4. Add the the table and the budget any additional hardware you will need to purchase that will be other nodes in the
network, such as the transaction processing terminals, iPads for taking orders, television for customers to watch
music videos, the office printer, Wi-Fi controlled air conditioning, security cameras, etc.
