KEY KNOWLEDGE
Identify parameters of motion as vectors or scalars
OUTCOME
By the end of this lesson you will be able to use vectors to illustrate displacement from position vectors.
Vectors are added by pacing them head to tail and then drawing a resultant vector. Vectors are subtracted by adding the opposite or negative of the subtracted vector and then finding the resultant.
What is a vector?
Why are they needed in the study of motion?
Draw a vector and label the head and the tail.
Write out a set of instructions for vector addition and subtraction (use diagrams)
Watch this video on velocity vectors
Describe 3 different examples showing how the 'Parallelogram method' can easily allow you to find the resultant vector when the two vectors are not in the same direction
