We have a house system at ECSC to promote inclusion and connection. You will be allocated a house and will work both individually and collaboratively to win house points to go towards your individual and house team scores. There are four different houses that students are allocated into at Edgars Creek Secondary College, which include Doherty, Jenkins, McDonald and Wollert.
All students have a chance to nominate to become a house captain for their house. The application process begins with a google form that needs to be submitted answering a few questions. Then shortlisted students will get an interview before the two best applicants will be chosen as the house captains.
You can win house points by:
Showing the school values in class and in the yard
Having positive attendance and engagement
Wearing the correct uniform
Getting involved in sports and/or activities around the school
Throughout the year there are many different house activities and competitions that occur in which house points can be awarded to students. Some events that occur include:
The Year 7 Colour run
School athletics carnival at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium
Kilometre club
Teacher vs students games
Lunchtime sporting competitions
Classroom points
Throughout the year, house point updates will be provided for students that are leading each class on the year 7 google noticeboard so students can see who the top five in all classes are and which house has the most house points in the entire school.
At the end of the year, the student with the most house points in their class will receive a medal in recognition of their contributions to their house. As well as the male and female with the most house points in the year level who will receive a trophy for earning the most house points across year 7. The house champion’s trophy will get the winning house name and year added onto the trophy as well.
