In addition to the timetabled program, several additional co-curricular programs are available:
Transition Program
All Year 7 students participate in the ‘Wellington Welcomes You’ program during the first two weeks of the year. This exciting transition program is designed to help students settle into secondary school, build new friendships, and develop a strong sense of belonging within the Wellington community. Through a range of team-building activities, challenges, and a two-day Design Sprint, students will collaborate, solve problems, and explore new ideas together. The program provides a positive and supportive start to Year 7, helping every student feel connected, confident, and ready for the year ahead.
Year 7 Camp
The three-day Year 7 Camp at Marysville is an exciting and important part of the transition to secondary school. It provides students with opportunities to build friendships, develop confidence, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the Year 7 cohort. Through a variety of outdoor and team-based activities, students will develop skills in collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and trust while working together in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Camp activities may encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, and all students are encouraged to approach new experiences with a positive attitude, resilience, and a willingness to participate. By supporting one another, embracing challenges, and reflecting on their experiences, students will begin their secondary school journey with increased confidence, stronger connections to their peers, and a greater sense of belonging.
We look forward to seeing our Year 7 students grow, connect, and create lasting memories through this valuable experience.
Student Wellbeing Program
The Student Wellbeing program is run through the College’s Wellbeing centre. The program offers small sessions with multiple students, or individual confidential sessions. The aim of the program is to develop a sense of belonging, resilience and support for individuals at the College.
Houses Program
The College conducts a range of activities in an active Houses Program. Each student is allocated to a House: Dianella (Blue), Acacia (Gold), Eucalyptus (Green), or Waratah (Red) each of which was named after native Australian flora. Students can represent their House by participating at the Swimming, Athletics and Cross-Country Carnivals, as well as in competitions such as Chess, mini-Olympics, Basketball and Four Square.
Attendance at the Swimming and Cross-Country carnivals is only for competitors.
Attendance at the Athletics Carnival is compulsory for all students.
Literacy Support Program
Year 7 students who may require additional support with their reading, writing, speaking and listening will be withdrawn from their language class to participate in a Literacy Support class.
These students will be identified by coordinators using data from tests and primary school recommendations.
Drama Production
Each year the College stages a production that involves many students from all year levels.
Instrumental Music
All Year 7 students are introduced to a musical instrument as part of the Music course. If they wish to study an instrument further and become involved in the College Band, students are withdrawn from classes on a rotational basis for lessons in the chosen instrument. A payment is required for private lessons through the College, an invoice will be provided to families for this program.
Interschool Sports
The College is active in interschool sport and offers the chance for students to represent the College in sports including Swimming, Athletics, Cross-Country, Netball, Softball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Baseball, Volleyball, Hockey, Cricket, Football and Soccer.
