Global Citizenship offers an opportunity for students to consider their personal impact on whole world com-munity issues. Students identify problems in various arenas (social, political, economic etc.) and how they can contribute to addressing them in various ways. It also provides an opportunity for students to develop an intercultural and ethical awareness; to build their skills in research, collaboration and critical thinking; to en-hance life skills, multimedia production, and increase their general awareness of issues facing our society, locally and globally.
In this subject, students work in groups to complete a variety of activities and projects that identify questions and issues and explore how they may contribute to improving our local and global communities. The focus of the subject is to empower students to take charge of their own learning, and develop as autonomous, self-directed learners with their teachers as designers and facilitators of learning.
Students are assessed through agreed tasks such as research projects, oral presentations, reports and presentations, learning expos, as well as skills and capabilities such as independent study and collaborative teamwork, creative and critical thinking, intercultural and ethical understanding.
