Year 9 English aims to develop the ability of students to read, write, speak and listen. Through a range of activities and units, students are empowered to become confident communicators and imaginative and critical thinkers. Students will learn to analyse and understand texts, as well as engage with different perspectives and worldviews through their study of both written and spoken/visual texts. They will begin to develop an appreciation of a range of text types and genres. The study of English will continue to develop the knowledge and skills students need to navigate the world, both in school and beyond.
