Solo tasks
Solo tasks
Solo tasks are designed for a student to work on the concept of dynamics and expressive techniques on their own (at home or individually).
Task 1 - Describing dynamics
Here are some terms that describe dynamics.
Can you guess what they mean by the way they are typed?
Task 2 - Define and draw
Look up the following words, and invent your own way to draw them:
decrescendo
accent
mezzo forte
slur
pizzicato.
Task 3 - Dynaimc Marking
Drag and drop each dynamic marking in order from softest to loudest.
Group tasks
Group tasks allow groups of students to further their understanding of dynamics and expressive techniques.
Task 1 - Classroom sounds
Make a list of all the sounds heard in your music classroom (including instruments).
Think about the loudest sound each sound source can make.
Order them from softest (ppp) to loudest (fff).
Task 2 - Play it different ways
Choose a small instrument in the classroom.
Pass it around the class and see if every person can play it a different way to create a slightly different tone colour.
You will be exploring different expressive techniques and perhaps some extended techniques as well.
