Through this learning sequence, student will build understanding about the relationship between acknowledging achievements, successes, positive emotions and the skill of cultivating resilience. Developing plans and implementing plans to create memories and having opportunities to reflect on past memories around our important achievements allows us to have something to remember in times of self-doubt.
Students will:
explore concepts around resilience
recognise the characteristics of resilience and reflect on these characteristics in relation to their own resilience.
reflect on the successful strategies used to build resilience in the past to develop a plan to overcome a challenge centred around physical activity
have the opportunity to overcome a current physical activity challenge and use the plan to motivate a friend or family member to participate.
identify situations from the past where you have used your own abilities and strengths to experience success. identify and acknowledging achievements

PD5-9 assess and applies self management skills to effectively manage complex situations
Students will build understanding of resilience and identify it in someone they know. They will use a reliable source to build knowledge of how to develop resilience and identify resilience in action through a case study. Student will then apply their learning to plan, map and set goals to overcome a current physical activity challenge.

Students will use the goal setting and motivation plan set to overcome a physical activity challenge in the last PDHPE lesson and implement it in a practical way.

Students will look at the past in order to support the future. Reliving memories to identify important achievements can help identify strengths and skills already possessed in times of self-doubt. When faced with future life challenges, reflecting on achievements can help with the ability to bounce back.
