Students will participate, experience and discover the need for physical activity in a variety of contexts. They will use reliable resources to draw conclusions about how their own levels of physical activity compare to current physical activity guidelines for maintaining health. Students will propose strategies to improve or maintain their current physical activity levels.
During these lessons, students will:
identify suitable physical activities based on the context they are in
participate in suitable physical activity
analyse their levels of physical activity compared to the Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines
propose strategies to improve or maintain their current physical activity levels in line with the current physical activity guidelines.
Recognise and participate in appropriate physical activity for their context.
Recognise and record the body’s response to physical activity.
Analyse their own physical activity levels to propose strategies that maintain or improve their health and wellbeing.

Students will compare their current physical activity levels with the Australia’s Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines and propose strategies to improve or maintain their current physical activity levels in line with the current physical activity guidelines.

Students will continue to look at the benefits of physical activity. Students will have the opportunity to participate in an activity of their choice and reflect and record information relating to the physical activity. The focus of the lesson is to explore how physical activity impacts the body and the mind. Choosing different activities to last lesson allows students to assess which are most suitable for them and to experience a wider range of benefits and impacts on their physical, mental and emotional health.
PD4-8: plans for and participates in activities that encourage health and a lifetime of physical activity
Students will develop promotional material on the benefits of physical activity utilising the knowledge they have developed during the previous lesson within this sequence. Students will propose strategies to improve physical activity levels for themselves and others.
