Overview

During these lessons students will explore the daily lives of men, women and children in ancient China.  

Students:  

• describe the everyday life of men, women or children 

• complete summary notes based on research of daily life. 

Content: 

Roles of key groups in the ancient society in this period (such as kings, emperors, priests, merchants, craftsmen, scholars, peasants, women), including the influence of law and religion.  

Students:  

• describe the roles of key groups in the society  

• describe the everyday life of men, women and children in the society. 

Outcomes:  

• HT4-6: uses evidence from sources to support historical narratives and explanations 

In this lesson, students will conduct research on daily life in ancient China. They will learn about ways to conduct effective research and how to determine whether online resources are reliable through looking at corroboration and creators.

Roles of key groups in the ancient society in this period (such as kings, emperors, priests, merchants, craftsmen, scholars, peasants, women), including the influence of law and religion.

• describe the everyday life of men, women and children in the society.

In this lesson, students will use their research from the previous lesson to write a description of daily life and the differences between social classes. They will be guided in their writing to plan and consider various aspects of daily life to write an effective description.

In this lesson, students will critique and refine a student work sample of daily life and social classes. They will be guided to provide useful feedback and will use their feedback to re-write parts of the writing sample with historical concepts and skills as a focus.
