In this lesson package, students will understand that representations are purposefully constructed and reflective of audience and purpose. They will engage with a range of representations through advertisements.
Students will learn how to:

identify the similarities and differences between texts
demonstrate understanding that representations are purposefully constructed for a particular purpose and audience
develop understanding of the features of visual texts
experiment with creating representations
reflect on their learning.
These lessons address the following outcomes:

Students will be introduced to a note taking method. They will view video clips about advertising techniques and visual composition and experiment using the note taking template.

Students will explore two advertisements of the same product developed for different audiences. They will identify the similarities and differences between two advertisements in order to demonstrate their understanding of target audience.
