WPGHS Values: Inclusivity and importance of relationships within the school community

Community liaison officers report discussing community gatherings and the deep love for multiculturalism + its importance to the school ---> one of our core values till this day- appreciating diversity. This report discusses the challenges faced as parents from the school community who came from migrant communities and their understanding of education was vastly different to the “Australian reality” and they felt more comfortable speaking to a person who understands their social and ethnic background- the CLO program aimed and continues to until this day to educate the parents about schooling in Australia to make them feel more welcome and comfortable and helped correct misconceptions about schools in the ethnic communities and it was said that “through the CLO program, we have managed to achieve a more harmonious relationship for all concerned. Parents are beginning to see us as their voice in all decision making at school- Community Liaison officers today continue to strive to make school a more harmonious and more inclusive community for all members of the school community- both students and parents.
