This is called a clinometer and is used to calculate the slope of the land. To obtain

an accurate reading you will need to aim the clinometer at a person of similar height.

Close one eye and aim the clino at your partner's head. Release the trigger so the

pointer needle can swing freely. Read the angle at the bottom scale to determine the

angle of the slope.
