WHAT DOES PRAC PE LOOK LIKE

This website has been developed as your one stop shop to practical PDHPE at Hunter Sports High in the current 'Learning from home' climate.

It provides students with information and inspiration to get active and creative with movement as well as promoting wellbeing.

There are a couple of components:

  • The PE Challenge - different challenges each week worth different points

  • The Physical Activity Tracker- where you can track the challenges you have attempted and try to hit the top of the leader board

  • A physical activity Log- which you can fill out each week where you can add all the activities you have completed even if they are not part of the challenge.

  • Fortnightly compulsory activities

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Challenge will be used to provide students with movement and wellbeing opportunities while adding a bit of a competitive flavour that will hopefully motivate and engage them.

Each week the PDHPE faculty will provide you with a range of physical, mental and social challenges.

Use the navigation button to get you to the desired week .

Each challenge is worth a set number of points.

Click on the desired point value and check out the options available.

Your task is to attempt at least 1 challenge a day and try to reach a minimum of 1000 points by the end of the week.

Use the activity tracker to log what you have done at the end of each week.

WHEN WILL I DO IT?

Check the challenges at the start of each week.

Complete the activities throughout the week, making sure you try to do at least 1 challenge a day.

At the end of the week click the activity tracker button and fill out the form to log what challenges you have completed.

Keep an eye on the leader board for your name.

Any compulsory activities will need to be completed by the due date and submitted with your PDHPE teacher in your online platform or through the embedded form.

WHY ?

If you could take a pill that improved your physical and mental health, and improved your capacity to learn, would you?

Well, there is no need, because daily physical activity can do all of that!

The government agrees and has set out some pretty clear guidelines for school and in general:

In schools- students need to participate in a minimum 150 minutes of physical activity a week ( Sport and practical PDHPE)

General Physical activity guidelines-

60 Minutes a day

150- 300 mins of moderate activity a week.

75-150 Minutes a week of intense activity a week

2 Days dedicated to strength.
