Now although I have said that shellfish is the native's main food source, they also catch many other sorts of fish, some of which we found roasting on the fire the first time we landed.
Some of these they strike with spears and others they catch with hook and line. Later during our stay the crew decided to try their luck fishing with nets to great success. One day we netted a hundred and forty kilograms of fish in one sweep of the net.
Because the local Aboriginal people only caught fish one at a time to meet their needs, what impact do you think catching so much fish in our nets might have had on their food source?
