Well, the Gweagal people of the Dharawal Nation have lived here at Kamay for many thousands and thousands of years. Everything we wanted is here in this place, from all the bush foods and medicines, to all the medicines and foods we get from the ocean as well. So we never wanted for anything, everything was right here at our disposal. So we had a very fruitful life. Besides just gathering food we used to have ceremonies. There were spiritual ceremonies which we used to pass on knowledge to the next generation of Gweagal Dharawal people, and that knowledge had a lot to do with our spirit ancestors who give us this land in the very first place and all our beautiful bush foods and medicines and our beautiful seafoods and medicines.
