Good day to you all! Lieutenant James Cook here, navigator and explorer on the good ship Endeavour. My crew and I left England 20 months ago on a voyage of exploration and discovery. We stopped at Tahiti and then we sailed around both islands of New Zealand, we finally arrived here. As there were no maps of this part of the world, I was given the task of drawing the maps for both New Zealand and the entire east coast of Australia. We came into this Bay as we needed to get fresh water and food. The scientists Joseph Banks named it Botany Bay. I think we'll stay here for eight days and after that proceeded further north along the coast of Australia and eventually head back to England.
