This site holds information and resources to support students and their families to continue learning from home.
To support their child's learning, parents and carers are advised to:
establish routines and expectations
define a space for your child to work in
monitor communication from the school
encourage physical activity and/or exercise
check in with your child regularly to help them manage stress
monitor how much time your child is spending online
keep your child social, but set rules around their social media interactions.
See the department's advice to parents and carers for more information.
See below for a social story that you can share with your child.
Students are expected to:
check each of their subject's Google Classroom at the start of the day
check their year group's Google Classroom at the start of each day
work in a safe, comfortable, quiet space in their home where they can work effectively and successfully without distractions
complete tasks with integrity and academic honesty, doing your best work
submit work according to due dates and times
participate in live on lessons on Zoom when scheduled by their teachers
communicate proactively with their teachers if they cannot submit work by the due date and time or require additional support
collaborate and support their classmates in their learning online
complying with the departments' Student use of digital devices and online services policy
seek out and communicate with appropriate school staff as different needs arise.
Try to create a quiet and comfortable learning space.
A space/location for extended learning should be a public/family space, not in a bedroom. It should be a place that can be quiet at times and have a strong wireless internet signal, if possible. Above all, it should be a space where you or another family member can support you if needed.
Refer to the Department of Education website for a learning environment checklist.
