Read the article How to adapt and modify your sports activities. Answer the following questions in your PDHPE workbook.
List some reasons why a skill or game may need to be modified.
What is the TREE method of skill modification?
For each letter in TREE, list what it stands for and provide one example of a change that can be made to modify a sports skill or activity.
Considering your sport or physical activity from last lesson, use the TREE method to brainstorm the modifications you feel would be best suited to make the activity more inclusive. Record this in your PDHPE workbook.
Be sure to identify who you are modifying this activity for.
Examples to consider include could a person with a certain type of disability, an older person, a younger person, someone who doesn’t have much sporting experience or struggles with English as their first language.
Using a multimedia presentation tool such as PowerPoint, create a digital presentation that communicates the new game or activity you have created with modifications to allow all participants to enjoy and succeed. Be sure to include:
the name of the activity
the rules or requirements
the equipment, facilities or resources required
a brief outline of how the activity is performed or the game is played, including timing, scoring systems, movement challenges.
You may choose to use images or photos with text to further explain the modifications you have made.
