Lesson 1 - Percentages with bar models

Task 1

• Watch the video, Percentage pre-learning.

• In your exercise book or folder, write out each example as you follow along with the video.

Task 2

Visit the Powten page on Transum.org.

• Click on the image link to open the activity in a new tab.

• Complete the activities level 1 and 2.

Task 1

1. Watch the video, Percentages with bar models.

2. When the the video tells you to pause, pause the video and complete the bar models for 8000 and 3200 in your exercise book or folder.

3. When you have completed the bar models, restart and finish watching the video.

Task 2 - Practice with Geogebra

Practice your percentage calculations using the Geogebra applet.

• Open the applet in a new tab by clicking on the image.

• Try as many times as you like until you feel comfortable with the process

Task 3 - Open Middle

Find as many solutions as you can to this percentage open-middle problem.

• Open the website in a new tab by clicking on the image.
