Watch the video for an introduction to the lesson.
Watch the video, Math Antics - Factoring to learn about the factors of numbers and the most efficient way to find them.
Math Antics - Factoring

Look at the image of the factor tower city.
Each tower lists all the factors of its number in separate blocks.
The factor tower shows that 5 has two factors, 1 and 5, and 6 has four factors, 1, 2, 3, and 6.
Use the interactive graph below to create a factor tower city for all the numbers up to 25.
Use your completed graph to answer the following questions in your exercise book or folder:
List all the numbers up to 25 with two factors only.
Make lists of numbers that have only three factors, four factors, and so on.
Describe the types of numbers or any patterns you see in each list.
Describe any other patterns that you notice.

Watch the video to learn how to calculate highest common factors (HCF) and lowest common multiples (LCM).
Can you complete the product puzzles?
Use the HCF, LCM larger integers Geogebra app to practise finding the HCF and LCM of large numbers.
Complete the following in your exercise book or folder:
Find 3 pairs of numbers which have a highest common factor of 6.
Find 3 pairs of numbers which have a lowest common multiple of 30.
Find 3 pairs of numbers which have no common factors other than 1, but are not prime numbers.
Find 3 different pairs of numbers that have the same highest common factor and the same lowest common multiple.
Don't forget to hand in the work you completed today!
Your teacher will have told you to do one of the following:
Upload any digital documents you created and any photos you took of your written work to your Learning Management system (MS Teams, Google Classroom for example).
Email any digital documents you created and any photos you took of your written work to your teacher.
