The lesson sequence is an examination of cause and effect of tourism. There are positive and negative interconnections associated with tourism. This sequence provides students with a detailed case study of Bali, Indonesia.
During these lessons, students will explore the different ways that the popularity of Bali as a tourist destination has impacted on the economy, society, and environment. The recent reduction of tourists to the island due to the coronavirus pandemic has provided stakeholders and community members with time to consider what is best for Bali’s tourism industry, people and environment moving forward.

In this lesson, students will use cause and effect to explain the positive and negative impacts of the tourism industry in Bali. They will develop knowledge and understanding of the impact reduced tourism due to coronavirus pandemic has had on the Balinese economy, people and environment.
