In this lesson, you will use physical fitness messages to determine the definition of mental fitness.
You will explore the role of sleep on the brain and create a relationship between the brain and what it needs for optimal opportunity for mental fitness.
If research suggests that we should focus on the mind as much as we do the body, then how do we prepare for that? What drives our mental fitness? How do we prepare for it?
Physical fitness is carrying out all our daily tasks without fatigue. With the increase in technology and its ability to reduce the labour of our tasks it could be making us unfit. To improve our fitness levels we play team sports, go to the gym, take the dog for a walk, go surfing or go for a ride. There are so many options both online, via apps and face to face to choose from to improve our physical fitness to suit everyone’s likes and needs. The opportunities are endless!

Our brains carry thoughts along neural pathways. These pathways are like ruts that have been created and reinforced over time. If you always take the same route to work, you may notice that you can get there on "autopilot." When we repeat a certain thought pattern many times, that neural pathway is reinforced, and the thinking becomes automatic.
It is this human part of the brain that we can develop and re-program. With the same deliberateness that we strengthen certain muscles or fine-tune a movement, we can create neural pathways that better serve us and benefit our lives. This is the essence of what we mean by mental fitness training.
