Introduction
In this learning sequence, students will learn about the origins of WW2. Students will examine a political cartoon and a speech by PM Menzies to investigate the link between WW1 and WW2. They will examine a series of propaganda posters to learn about the strategies used to encourage people to enlist.
Learning intentions

to analyse a series of propaganda posters from World War II

outline the causes of World War II
explain why Australians enlisted to fight in World War II, including the strategies used by the Australian government to influence young men to enlist in the war
analysing propaganda posters to evaluate their usefulness in the historical inquiry process

An overview of the causes of the wars, why men enlisted and where Australians fought (ACDSEH021, ACDSEH095, ACDSEH024)
Students:
outline the main causes of both wars
explain why Australians enlisted to fight in both wars
