World events such as the Vietnam War had a significant impact on Australia’s migration policy. The arrival of refugees changed the fabric of Australian society.
During these lessons, students will analyse sources to gain an understanding of the impact of the Vietnam War on Australia’s migration policy, as well as the way refugees were welcomed and treated by Australians and the media.

discuss the response of Australians, including the Australian media, to the arrival of refugees from Indochina in the 1970s and 1980s OR refugees from Afghanistan and Iraq since 2001
