Your Category Lead may contact you with specific details—follow their instructions even if they differ from the roster.
Haven’t heard from your Category Lead? A contact list will be shared soon.
Not all volunteers will be judging—some roles involve organizing students, managing materials, or assisting with logistics.
WHEN WILL I BE DONE?
Each role has its own estimated end time. Once your Category Lead releases you, you’re free to explore, stay for the Awards, or head home.
WHO SHOULD BE A JUDGE?
STLP Judges should be current or retired educators who understand the purpose behind STLP—helping students grow and shine.
Judges should provide thoughtful, kind, and constructive feedback.
STLP is more than a score—it’s about creating opportunities for students.
Ask yourself: Who would I want judging my own students? That’s who you should send.
WHAT IF I’M THE ONLY ADULT WITH MY STUDENTS?
STLP requires each school to provide a volunteer judge—this is the only “cost of admission.” If you’re the only adult, you’ll need to secure another adult to chaperone so you can fulfill the judging role.
WHAT IF I NEED TO LEAVE EARLY?
Judging teams need consistency. If you can’t stay for the full assignment:
Talk to your STLP Coach to find a replacement to send in your place
In emergencies, inform your competition lead and return all judging materials before leaving
WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT TO STATE?
Contact the STLP Coach who submitted your name as soon as possible.
If needed, find a replacement and share all info with them.
We do our best to honor preferences, but assignments are made based on program needs. If you were placed somewhere unexpected, don’t worry—Category Leads will guide you every step of the way.
We appreciate your flexibility and dedication. Thanks for supporting #STLP25!
