2021 Best STLP Projects in Kentucky
Simpson Elementary School, Simpson County
Sam Northern, STLP Coach
The STLP team at Simpson Elementary School consists of 3rd grade students. The team is managing a trail cam on school property. The trail cam was acquired through a donation from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. The project used a trail camera to capture media of wild animals behind the school building. We collected and curated the footage in Google Drive. We created videos of the different animals seen as well as worksheets and games. Videos and other information about animals, habitats, and conservation were uploaded to a Google Site. The more people know about animal habitats, the more likely they are to care about protecting their homes.

The problem addressed in the TCHS MC project was lack of attendance during non-traditional instructional days. Attendance for google meets was at an all time low. TCHS MC is using the Minecraft server to connect kids and teachers in a fun and engaging 3-dimensional virtual atmosphere wherever they are. With this technology, student attendance will be improved for future NTI virtual settings.

VREd is a groundbreaking project of innovation and the future. VREd explores the potential of new technologies, VR and AR, to serve a role in EdTech and become an integral part of the classrooms of tomorrow. VREd sought the resources to execute these goals and followed-through successfully on them by incorporating a wide range of digital programs. VREd prototyped and designed tools to make the project a success. VREd spread their impact through global collaboration tools and works with others to gain the financial resources, through grants, to make it possible.
